lyrics

A Sunday to remember a cosmic epiphany
When the Martians paid a visit to the Little Crick UMC

I was headed one Sunday morning to the church in Little Crick town
When I saw a flying saucer hovering above the ground
It landed right beside me and what did I perceive a little green ET family right in front of me

I stood there in amazement my knees were getting weak
One of them held up his hand and then began to speak
Take us to your leader said this little three-eyed creature
So I led them all into the church and right up to the preacher
The congregation gasped as we walked through the door
They weren't like no Methodist they'd ever seen before
A Sunday to remember a cosmic epiphany
When the Martians paid a visit to the Little Crick UMC

The preacher said a little prayer right before the service
Cause all the folks in church that day were more than a bit nervous
But they must have been Methodist martians cause they knew just what to do
They brought a covered dish and they sat in their own pew

Now the preacher's sermon for the day had a certain galatic feel
all about Ezekiel and the wheel within the wheel
But when the martian family was passed the offering plate
The usher almost fainted when they made it levitate
That shook the congregation right down to the new church floor
They weren't like no Methodists they ever seen before
A Sunday to remember a cosmic epiphany
When the Martians paid a visit to the Little Crick UMC

Now some folks started panicking they thought they might get captured
Then someone shouted out "praise the Lord it's the rapture"
But a smile soon did appear on everybody's face
When the little green ET family began to sing Amazing Grace
Amazing grace how sweet the sound that saved the galaxy
I once was lost in space but now I'm found near Alpha Centauri

By the time that church was over we come to realize
Them folks from Mars were just like us even with three eyes
The fact that they were green and not so very tall
It really didn't make no mind Jesus loves us all

We waved goodbye as they headed back out there among the stars
Open doors and open hearts for those little green folks from Mars
A Sunday to remember a cosmic epiphany
When the Martians paid a visit to the Little Crick UMC
